Fleet of Fortune
A downloadable card game
Fleet of Fortune
Form your fleet to compete against your enemies for the fortunes of the sea
"Fleet of Fortune" is a card game based around the discoveries in the Iberian Peninsula during the 15th century. Play as a captain and strategize to be the first to reach the treasures, but be careful, be too greedy and you might just miss your shot!
This is a 2-5 player competitive game where each player gets 7 cards and tries to get a total value as close as possible to the health value of the treasure, swapping the cards to the player on the left after each card placed on the table. After the third card is played by everyone, the treasure in the middle proceeds to eliminate a card from one of the players, with that event happening every time after the players swap their cards.
This game is about resource management and sometimes taking risks. Whether you choose to make big number combos at the beginning and then in the last cards struggle to be within the health value of the treasure, knowing which cards to discard and when to do it, and being able to progress through the different levels of bounty.
Features
Game Theme
"Fleet of Fortune" puts players in the adventurous world of the 15th century Iberian Peninsula, where they take on the role of captains competing for treasures.
Player Mechanics
The game can be played with 2 to 5 players, each starting with 7 cards. Players aim to get their total card values as close as possible to the treasure's health value. With strategic planning and resource management, each decision is critical as players swap cards with the players on each round.
Card Types
With 80 cards — 50 Damage Cards, 25 Action Cards, and 5 Treasure Cards — "Fleet of Fortune" has a dinamic gameplay. Action Cards with different abilities, such as multiplying damage or blocking opponent actions, adds strategies and allow various approaches each game.
Competitive Gameplay
The game is designed for a strategic and competitive play, where players are against one another. Each round's card placements and actions can change the game's outcome, making players fight with all they have.
Controls
Cards
"Fleet of Fortune" has 80 cards in total—50 Damage Cards that go from 1 to 10, 25 Action Cards, and 5 Treasure Cards. The Action Cards include things like Multiply (which doubles the next Damage Card), Block (that can stop someone’s action or an attack), Anchor (which lets you hold your hand for a round), Trade (swap for a random Damage Card), and Balance (adds more cards based on how many players there are).
Starting the game:
Before the game starts, everyone divides the cards by type and shuffles the Action and Damage piles. Each player picks up 5 Damage Cards and 2 Action Cards, and then the first Treasure Card goes in the middle.
The game goes like this: first, everyone places one card face down, then they activate any Action Cards, take damage, and finally swap hands. You can hold onto Action Cards for later, except for the Multiply and Trade ones.
Damage
After the third round, players start losing cards. The players may choose their method of picking the first player to lose cards, and then each round the next person to their left loses one too, going clockwise until the round ends.
Scoring and winning
The goal is to get your Damage Cards as close as possible to the Treasure’s health. The player closest to that total gets points, while the furthest loses some. If someone hits the exact number, they get bonus points!
If no one matches the Treasure’s health in that level, the players go back to the last treasure card.
After five rounds, everyone counts their points, and whoever has the most wins.
